CERTIFICATE COURSE IN CHILD PROTECTION

Protection of Children is a growing concern worldwide. A family, community, state and concerned citizen should ensure a preventive measure to safeguard the rights of children. Further, it is necessary to understand the concept of child protection and our responsibility towards a better environment for children where children can enjoy their childhood with dignity.

Looking into the above rationality, the Centre for Child protection, SPUP (in partnership with UNICEF) runs a six-month Certificate Course in Child Protection through distance mode. The course will help professionals as well as other interested candidates who wish to improve their practice and knowledge on child protection. The main target groups of this course are members of Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Anti-human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Childline staffs, Supervisor/Superintendent of Child Care Institutions, employees of the Non – Governmental Organisations /Government Organizations working with issue of child protection and child rights, representatives of Panchayatraj Institutions and interested students are looking for a career in child protection. The course also invites attention of analytical people who take keen interest in problem-solving and eager to introduce research in this vital area.The purpose of the course is to raise awareness and develop capacity of all interested in working/already working in the field of Child Rights towards conceiving, designing and implementing law/policies/programmes towards protection, development and participation of children.

THE COURSE OBJECTIVES

 The salient features of this programme are as follows:

  • To provide learners with the core knowledge required for child protection and child rights including international laws and treaties, Child Rights framework and structures.
  • To build a theoretical understanding of learners about various forms of exploitation against children and their consequences.
  • To equip learners with the skills of using appropriate knowledge of different child protection laws policies and services with role and responsibility of different stakeholders.
  • To develop understanding of learners on Childhood and their challenges for effective intervention of Child Protection Cases.
  • To develop understanding of learners about adoption of child friendly approach and practices among stakeholders.
  • To Ensure adoption of proactive investigation strategies and techniques among police officials, in the context of child protection.
  • To develop capacity in conceiving rights-based approach for child welfare and development at field as well as institutional levels.
  • To establish coordination, linkages between child protection service providers.
  • To create professionals in the field of child protection who can build their career in INGO/NGO or Government agencies in this filed.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

Certificate Course in Child Protection (CCCP) is of 06 months duration course covering total 56 hours (8 days * 7 hours) of contact classes. The students will be provided with the study material. Field Practice and assignments will be part of the course.

CONTACT CLASES

  • CCP has plan two contact classes for each theory paper. Total eight contact classes for four paper will be organized at CCP classroom Jaipur.
  • The contact classes have been conducted only in Saturday and Sunday.
  • Due to Covide-19 pandemic, this year CCP has planned to conduct contact classes by online too.
  • The participant will also be required to submit an assignment relating to each theory paper.
  • In addition to class work, the course participant will also be required to complete Field work of 03 weeks duration either with NGOs working in the field of Child Rights or Government Institutions related to Child Rights.
  • The participant will be required to submit a report based on his/her fieldwork. It will be followed by Viva-voce examination.

ELIGIBILITY

Minimum qualification required to get admission in the course is 10th standard pass and there is no age bar to take admission in this course.

INTAKE

Maximum 25 students in one batch for the course. The centre can run two batches at a time.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

Hindi and English

(The course participant will be provided study material by the Centre)

RULES FOR THE ADMISSION AND CANCELLATION Enrolment can be cancelled after 01 year if participants are not committed towards completion of the course.

 EVALUTION SYSTEM

The system of evaluation incorporates following features:

  • A student associated with Certificate Course will be evaluated out of 500 marks including theory exam, class assignment, fieldwork report and viva-voce.
  • The course has four papers. Each paper carries 100 marks(70 marks for theory and 30 marks based on assessment of the assignments).
  • The fifth paper of the course is concurrent field work where student will be placed in different civil society organization/ Child care Institutions/Schools/Anganwadi Centers/slums/community/village etc. under the guidance of CCP faculty. This concurrent field work will evaluate based on report writing (70 Marks) of filed work activities and viva-voce examination (30 Marks).
  • The duration of written examination for each paper shall be of two hours.
  • The written theory examination will be both subjective and objective type questions.

AWARD OF CERTIFICATE

Minimum marks required for passing each subject is 40 percent of the total marks.

FEES STRUCTURE

  • Course fees is Rs. 3000/- (only for one year; will be revised every year) for aspirants belongs to general category.
  • For students belonging to Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes, Non- Creamy layer OBCs/ SBCs and Below Poverty Line Families will be given 25% concessionin the fees (On need / merit basis).
  • Besides this fee structure Rs. 200 will be charged as examination fee for certificate course respectively.
  • Due to covid19 pandemic, 25% discount on course fee is available for officials including member of CWC, JJB and other.
  • Scholarship is also available for police personnel in this course.
  • If participant is failed to complete the course in one year, then re-registration will be necessary.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

To apply in the course, the eligible aspirants are required to download the below application form and filled it with required information manually then send it to  ccp@policeuniversity.ac.in with self-attested recent passport size photo of aspirant, scan copy of educational qualifications including any ID proof. Aspirant can also apply through below google form online option. Selected aspirant will be asked to deposit fees in the bank account of ‘Director, Centre for Child Protection’ by demand draft or online within stipulated time.
